When you think of restorative dental work, you may think of major dental work, or even dental surgery. But the truth is that in many cases, the damage to your teeth may be very minor and easy to fix. It is a quick, painless, and cost-effective ways to improve small problems with your teeth. These problems include teeth that have been chipped or discolored, are the wrong shape or are spaced too far apart.

The bonding process is done in a single visit. Unless the bond is being used to repair a cavity and the dentist needs to remove some decay, you won’t need any anesthetic. The dentist will either choose or mix the bonding resin that will best match the color of your tooth. Then, he will etch the surface of your tooth and apply a conditioning liquid. Then, the dentist will mold the resin around your tooth and give it the proper shape. Once the resin is hardened, the dentist will trim it and polish it until it is the right shape and color.

Your bond is strong, but not as strong as a natural tooth. You can chip your dental bond by chewing on ice, pens, pencils or other objects. Tobacco, coffee, tea and other dark colored beverages and food will stain your bond, especially in the first 48 hours after it is applied.
