What type of toothbrush should I use?
While there are many types of toothbrushes available, we recommend that you use an ADA-approved, soft-bristle brush that is small enough to comfortably reach all the surfaces of your mouth. You may also want to consider a toothbrush with a flexible handle.
How can I ensure that my children brush their teeth?
Your child should brush his or her teeth twice each day, and floss daily. The best way to ensure that they brush and floss is to establish a routine of dental care with them. Try to make this time fun and exciting for your child with fun flossers, a toothbrush of your child’s choice, or flavored toothpaste. We also recommend that you brush your teeth with your child to encourage them by example.
How much time should I spend brushing my teeth?
We recommend that you brush your teeth for a minimum of two minutes. The ADA recommends that you spend 30 seconds in each quadrant of your mouth (upper left, upper right, lower left, lower right). You may want to use a timer, or find an electric toothbrush that runs for two minutes before shutting off.
Do dental implants hurt?
During your implant placement procedure, your mouth will be numb, so you should not feel any discomfort during the procedure itself. You will probably feel uncomfortable few the first few days of the healing process. We will provide you with pain medication and post-op instructions to ease the pain and aid in your healing process.
Is sedation dentistry safe?
Sedation dentistry is used to help you feel calm and relaxed during your treatments, and it is often recommended for individuals who experience dental anxiety and fear. Sedation dentistry is very safe, and our dentist and team undergo special training to ensure that we can safely provide your treatment. You are also carefully monitored throughout your entire appointment to ensure that no complications or risks occur.
Are dental X-rays safe?
Dental X-rays help our dentist understand your oral health needs, and provide more effective treatments. X-rays are very safe for use. Traditional film X-rays produce less radiation than your day-to-day exposure from sunlight, and advances in technology have produced digital X-rays with an even lower radiation exposure (in some cases, up to 90% less than film radiography). Additionally, all X-ray machines are checked regularly to ensure that they are safe and functioning properly.
Why do I need to visit the dentist regularly?
Visiting the dentist regularly ensures that you receive preventive care, which stops many dental problems from developing and allows us to treat any existing problems while they are still minor issues. If you do not visit the dentist regularly, you are likely to develop a serious oral health problem that will cost more time and money to fix than what routine preventive appointments will cost.
